ARRIS SB8200 vs Motorola MB8611 The Motorola MB8600 cable modem I received in May 2022 has just one ethernet port, not four. I'm sad since having an additional port is quite useful for troubleshooting with a directly connected laptop, avoiding the separate router that connects the MB8600 to the rest of the network. Yes, the modem will work with any 10/100/1000 router. If your router is not gigabit, it will most likely still operate, albeit at the router's network adapter limit. The router speed number in the model name is a marketing ploy. Because ac stands for fifth generation, you will most likely have 2.4gigahertz and 5gigahertz bands. Because it enables Ethernet port bonding at extremely high speeds (more than 1Gbps), it should be paired with a router that also supports Ethernet port bonding. Those service tiers or routers are not currently available, but they will be soon.

When I originally phoned them to add it to the account and set it up, they made the initial firmware push to my router. So far, it appears like they will not need to deploy firmware upgrades to this every other day, leading it to shut down like their reconditioned equipment.
